Ombre Crystal Butterfly Necklaces

Butterflies are powerful symbols to wear. The image of a butterfly means different things to many; common threads include transformation, positive energy, a resilient spirit, dreams, and they can even represent those who we love. My new ombre crystal butterfly designs represent all of the above and more. These butterfly necklaces symbolize the power we carry within ourselves, and encourage the wearer to release one's inner magic.

My vision began when I gazed upon one of my butterfly pendants, and imagined a glittering rainbow radiating across the butterfly's wings. I instantly went to work - I was compelled to bring my vision to life. The first of the ombre crystal butterfly necklaces to be born is this rainbow species, with over 140 Swarovski crystals in 13 different shades. This butterfly necklace will glisten with your every movement.  I have a cute little demo video for you to demonstrate the truly mesmerizing sparkle.

Wonderful, I had an exciting design for the rainbow lovers, but what next? Well, the moon and the stars are just as magical as rainbows, but in a completely different way. I decided to create a crystal butterfly necklace with a more subtle color palette: glistening starlight shades of crystal clear, moonlight, air blue opal, and light sapphire Swarovski crystals.

The Moonlight Ombre Butterfly Necklace is elegant and ethereal. This necklace has so much styling versatility. You could pair it with jeans and a simple white top, a draped chiffon dress, or go funky street style like me and wear it with galaxy print leggings. This crystal butterfly necklace would also be amazing in a wedding - imagine yourself as a bride wearing an airy sparkling butterfly necklace - divine!!! No matter where you're headed, this butterfly necklace will light the way with sparkle and shine.

This is only the beginning - there are so many colors in nature to be inspired by and I have so many new butterflies to create. Are you inspired by a specific color combination? Send me an email, let's set up a custom order for a butterfly in your favorite colors. You can always reach me at bionicunicorn@gmail.com - I would love to hear from you.

Now you can purchase designs from my Spring collection at my Etsy Shop or my Bionic Unicorn website. New jewelry is added on a weekly basis, and it is mostly one of a kind. Spring Collection Mood Board & Inspiration

I'm so excited for my Spring 2012 collection. I put together a little mood board so you can see my inspirations. I don't usually make mood boards, so this was very fun and new for me. I credited the images where the sources are known.
My collection will be heavily influenced by Dolly Kei, a fashion movement from Japan inspired by fairytales, folklore, vintage romance, and the forest. You can get a great feel for Dolly Kei by reading this article about Grimoire, a boutique in Tokyo that I completely adore.
My jewelry is already pretty much a marriage between Dolly Kei and Steampunk, so for Spring, I am going to fully indulge in these concepts. The color palette will be muted pastels mixed with soft earth tones. A very romantic, antique, and woodsy vibe. Oh, and there will be magical creatures joining us on our stroll through the forest.

Getting Ready for TeslaCon

In a couple of weeks I will be a guest at a steampunk immersion event called TeslaCon. I will be debuting new collections of jewelry inspired by the Lost City of Atlantis, steampunk royalty, and feathers. Quite an eclectic combo, no? Here are some previews of the jewelry I will be bringing with me to TeslaCon. These creations are all currently available in my Etsy shop and my website. All of my new jewelry will be available in both shops at the end of November.

Ulorin Vex - Tangerine Pixie

It's no secret that I have a fashion crush on Ulorin Vex. She's punk, pretty, powerful, and sweet all at once! All the qualities that a Bionic Unicorn admires. Well here she is wearing my jewelry and looking quite darling as well. This image is from the first set of photos that she did with her hubs Allan Amato. You can see more pics from the shoot here.

Ulorin Vex Photo Shoot Preview

Here is a little teaser from the photo shoot that Ulorin Vex did today for my jewelry. I can't even tell you how lucky I feel to have such a dynamic and exciting model wearing my designs. Oh did I mention that Allan Amato shot the photos? No big deal, just an ultra talented photographer whose work I completely admire.

Carmilla: A Gothic Vision

I recently had the absolute delight of working with Lillyxandra, the brilliantly creative pixie responsible for the amazing designs of Firefly Path. I have been a long time fan, so imagine my happiness when she responded to my email saying she'd like to wear my jewelry. Wow! I designed jewelry to complement her newest design, a black and red Rococo inspired ball gown. Here are some of my favorite pics from a recent photo shoot that Lillyxandra (aka JoEllen Elam) did with her sister Mary. You can see more photos here at the official Firefly Path website, and also on Mary's Flickr account.

Lillyxandra at Montreal Comiccon

Who's that pixie? It's the lovely and talented Lillyxandra aka JoEllen Elam of Firefly Path. You may recognize her from her iconic Princess Zelda cosplay.

This weekend Lillyxandra will be an Anime Guest of Honor at Montreal Comiccon and she will also be wearing my jewelry! Look for her in a stunning red and black Emo Vampire dress, with a dramatic high collar black bolero. You do not want to miss this girl's panel discussions - think of the knowledge and creativity she has to share. I hope you are able to meet up with Lillyxandra and say hello. I will be chilling in Minneapolis working on my designs for TeslaCon, but that is another post for another day. Other Guests of Honor at Montreal Comiccon include Stan Lee and Adam West. I wish I were going!
