A Poem for Today

Things

We are all things with thingies
to show off to other things with thingies
so lets all wave our thingies in the air

You may be wondering, "What are these 'things' she is talking about"? The thingies are whatever quality or ability each person wants to be recognized for. I think that the need for validation is one of the biggest motives that propels humanity. Everyone just wants to be recognized for what they think they are good at. If you haven't noticed it yet, watch for it during your next social interaction. This simple desire is at the bottom of almost any conversation. There's nothing wrong with it either. Everyone wants to feel appreciated in some way. I think the world would be a lot happier in general if we could all just take a moment to validate each other so we can get on with whatever else is going on. And I mean that in a very positive way.
